Apple’s App Store hit 40 Billion Downloads and counting
Apple’s App Store hit 40 Billion Downloads with 20 Billion alone coming in 2012. These totals exclude re-downloads and app updates.
Natasha Lomas of TechCrunch alluded to Apple‘s success in her January 7th article by writing:
“December was a record-breaking month for iOS app downloads, according to Apple, with more than two billion downloads during the period — doubtless fuelled by holiday iOS device sales. Apple said its App Store now has more than 500 million active accounts, and there are now more than 775,000 apps in the store, including more than 300,000 native iPad apps. iOS developers have made more than $7 billion via the App Store, it added.”
WOW! $7 Billion made by iOS developers in the App Store? Google Play is also seeing similar success with a forecast for one million available apps by May 2013. With that said, it shall be interesting to see the continued growth for App Downloads in the coming year.
