Best Camera Cell Phones for 2019

The first cell phone cameras produced low-resolution, fuzzy images, and were often dismissed as a passing fad. After all, no-one needed their phone to double as a low-quality camera, right? Consumers proved the trend analysts wrong, and demand for cell phone cameras took off.

Today, phones with good cameras offer multiple lens options, 48-megapixel sensors, and digital zooms that match or even beat high-end cameras. Entire industries now center on phone cameras, as Instagram can attest. Why haul a heavy camera bag around on vacation when you can get the same effect from the best camera cellphone?

What Phone Has the Best Camera?

While many people wonder what phone has the best camera, the more appropriate question is what phone has the best camera for you. Think about how you use your camera when choosing your cell phone. Are you an avid photographer, concerned with lighting, aperture settings, and professional-looking results, or are you more likely to use the camera to snap quick selfies on the go? There’s no point in buying the best camera cellphone if a more basic camera fills your needs. By the same token, avid photographers will find the limitations of a basic camera frustrating. Below are eight of the best camera phones available in the US market.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

Probably the best camera phone Verizon offers, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus offers three rear cameras, with a 12MP, f/1.5 wide-angle lens, a 16MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle lens, and a 12 MP, f/2.4 telephoto. The front camera offers 10MP, and all lenses support OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).

iPhone XS

The iPhone XS boasts two 12MP rear cameras: an f/1.8 wide-angle and an f/2.4 telephoto. Both back lenses and the 7MP front camera offer optical image stabilization, and the telephoto provides crisp detail at its maximum zoom. Two new features–Smart HDR and Depth Control–help makes the iPhone XS one of the best camera phones Verizon sells.

Google Pixel 3A

At first glance, the Google Pixel 3A doesn’t look like much, with a 12MP, f/1.8 rear camera and an 8MP front lens. If you’re looking for a reliable cellphone camera, however, this is the phone for you. Google’s camera software makes it easy to take quality pictures and includes a Night Sight setting for long-exposure night shots that easily matches that of the iPhone XS.

Asus Zenfone 6

The Asus Zenforce 6 has two powerful rear cameras: an impressive 48MP f/1.8 lens and a second 13MP f/2.4. The front camera is the weakest of the three, with only 8MP, but it’s still more than capable of delivering that perfect selfie.

Google Pixel 3

The Google Pixel 3A’s older brother, the Google Pixel 3, is well-suited for those who want a utilitarian camera without too many extra functions. The ultrawide rear camera offers excellent zoom up to 2x, after which images tend to blur.

Honor 20 Pro

The Honor 20 Pro is for the talented amateur photographer or the professional. Four rear-facing cameras provide include a 48MP camera with incredible low-light performance–this is a camera you can confidently use in the dark. The other three rear lenses include an ultrawide angle lenses, an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 2MP macro camera.

OnePlus 7 Pro
