Call Forwarding, the Best Kept Secret to Never Missing Another Call

Have you driven to work, sat down at your desk only to realize you forgot your phone at home?  Many people have.  Verizon offers a feature that quite a few customers are not aware of.  Call Forwarding (no extra charges apply for using this service; it is included with all voice plans, however, you are still charged for the minutes you use because you are actually receiving the calls to you cell phone).

You are given the option of setting up call forwarding from your phone itself, from a computer, or calling Customer Service.  You can forward your calls to any type of phone number such as home, another cell, or office phone.

Following are the simple steps to set up Call Forwarding:

From your Mobile:

  1. Dial *72 plus the number you would like to transfer your calls to (i.e. *72-702-555-1212)
  2. Hit the call button and wait for the confirmation.  You will get a confirmation tone or message.
  3. Once you receive the confirmation you can disconnect the call.

From a Computer:

  1. Go to My Verizon, Type Call Forward in the Search box, select How do I turn Call Forwarding off if I don’t have my phone with me?, Select My Verizon (Be sure the correct phone number is selected from the drop down menu, if you have multiple lines on your account).
  2. Type the number you would like to transfer your calls to in the Forward Mobile Number area (be sure to include the area code i. e. 702-555-1212).

  1. There will be two option to select from forward all calls, or forward calls when my line is busy or there is no answer.  Select the option you would like.  The status will show Call Forwarding is not active.
  2. Select Set up Call Forwarding to activate.

Calling Customer Service:

  1. Call Verizon Customer Service at 800-922-0204, and they’ll take care of setting up Call Forwarding for you.  You can always call GoWireless Customer Service at 877-867-1242, and they can assist with your wireless needs as well.

It’s that simple to make sure you don’t miss any important calls.

Now to cancel call forwarding:

From your Mobile:

  1. Dial *73
  2. Hit the call button and wait for the confirmation.  You will get a confirmation tone or message.
  3. Once you receive the confirmation you can disconnect the call.

From a Computer:

  1. Go to My Verizon, Type Call Forward in the Search box, select How do I turn Call Forwarding off if I don’t have my phone with me?, Select My Verizon (Be sure the correct phone number is selected from the drop down menu, if you have multiple lines on your account).
  2. Select Cancel Call Forwarding
