Experience The 2014 Oscars Ceremony on your Smartphone and Tablet
From Best Picture to Best Director nominees all of the biggest celebrities will be gathering at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles for the 86th Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars) on March 2, 2014. With the awards right around the corner you won’t want to miss a single minute of the show. To help you get the full experience of this year’s Academy Awards here are the apps that you’ll want to have downloaded on your mobile device(s).
For the first time ever, ABC will be livestreaming the Oscars preshow and full awards on the WATCH ABC app. Along with being able to watch the preshow and award show live you will also be able to watch the Oscars on demand on the WATCH ABC app until Wednesday, March 5th.
The one caveat to this livestream of the Oscars on mobile is that you only be able access it if you have a TV subscription in one of the eight ABC Owned Station markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno. The good news is that if you are a Verizon FiOS subscriber in these markets you will be able to access the livestream.
And whether you are part of one of the eight markets or not you will also be able to access the Oscars Backstage feature ABC is running on the app. The Oscars Backstage is the ultimate second screen experience with various correspondents interviewing red carpet fan bleacher and celebrity interviews through a choice of 15 different live camera angles. You’ll also get popular camera positions such as the Thank You cam, Winners Walk, Audience and Press Room.
Live From the Red Carpet
This free app from E! will give you all the reports live from the Red Carpet that you will want. Along with live reports and interview videos you are also able to livestream all of E! video coverage and use the GlamCam360, E! Matrix-like fashion cam. The app even features a section where they gather all of the tweets from their on-air talent and celebrities inside the app. This is the app you’ll want to have if you want to experience the red carpet of the 86th Academy Awards from every angle.
It wouldn’t be an awards show without having some way to commentate on what we are seeing before, during and after the Academy Award. That’s why Twitter will be your best friend during the Academy Awards. Not only will you be able to comment on everything going on during the show but you’ll also be able to interacting with other viewers through various hashtags, like #Oscars2014 and #AcademyAwards.
