Motorola Razr Maxx – A Battery Machine
Motorola has released an upgrade to last year’s Razr. The Maxx isn’t striking to look at but its flat Kevlar back-plate is incredibly tough and the body’s smooth curved edges make it comfortable to hold. The Razr Maxx’s biggest selling point is its battery. It is packed with a massive, 3300 mAh battery which is positively huge and larger than the Bionic although it remains sealed inside and not easily replaceable. A small panel on the side can flip up to reveal the SIM & microSD card slots which is a nice change from having to remove the back of the phone to get to them.
Compared to competitors, the Razr Maxx’s Super Amoled display isn’t particularly vibrant but with a resolution of 540×960 pixels its visual performance is certainly clear and crisp.
Motorola has introduced an excellent feature called Smart Actions. It allows users to customize the phone’s settings and set them to be triggered at certain times. It can also be set to instruct the phone to read events on the calendar and divert calls if that contact would disrupt a meeting.
All in all, in terms of the phone hardware, not much has changed. The Maxx is very similar to the Droid Razr but with a gigantic battery upgrade. This is the Android phone to get if you need a lot of battery life.
